gibbo62 > 13.05.08 Haweswater Reservoir
The village of Mardale in the Lake District disappeared when the Haweswater valley was flooded in 1935 for the water needs of Manchester. The stained glass from the old Church has been used in the pumping ststion of the reservoir. And when water levels are very low during long, dry summers the walls of the Mardale can still be seen.

The reservoir was created to provide for the water needs of Manchester. And when water levels are very low during long, dry summers the walls of the Mardale can still be seen.
